Retrospective

Classes were canceled this week for Lightbox. It was so nice to have extra time to finish homework. I’ll probably be able to finish everything by Wednesday, and then I plan to get a head start on the following week’s homework.

Drawings and Critiques

AD1

Reference boards and studies of the reference.

I chose Russian dachas as my subject, and I imagined them on Mars, so I used greenhouses as my form language.

Keyword studies and building designs.

Banksia pod form language study.

I need to do another round of designs with this alien-looking plant as my form language.

WB1

Reference and architecture designs.

This assignment overlapped with AD1, so I used the same references to save myself an hour.

Environment sketches.

We had to put the buildings we designed into an environment.

DC1

Color palette master studies.

This was really difficult for me. We were supposed to emulate the colors of each painting with a limited color palette selected by a gamut mask (the triangles over the color wheels). I started to get the hang of it by the end, but it was rough at first.
