Retrospective
I’ve been using Photoshop exclusively for the past few months, so this week I decided to go back to traditional materials — ballpoint pen on copy paper. It was nice to be able to look at my pen again instead of the screen, but I missed being able to make corrections easily. It made be draw as lightly as possible until I was willing to commit to a line.

Drawings and Critiques
Freehand perspective grids.
It was good practice to quickly sketch in perspective grids. When drawing digitally I got in the habit of trying to make perspective look perfect, which takes forever and results in very stiff and sterile looking drawings.
Sketching geometric objects in an environment.
Japanese living room thumbnails.
Throne room thumbnails.
Prop sketches — The grand bazaar in Istanbul.
Environment thumbnails and final sketch — the grand bazaar in Istanbul.
I made the coffee pots too big. I noticed immediately after I finished drawing the first one, but it was already too late. I could scan this into photoshop and shrink them down, but I don’t plan on taking this any further. Also the main path to the right vanishing point seems too empty.
