Retrospective

This was another slightly reduced week, but I was able to finish drawing all the arms in the Bridgman book. I didn’t draw every single arm (some were just too sloppy to glean any information from) but I drew all the pictures I considered worth drawing. Next week I’ll move on to legs. I won’t have time to redo all the drawings from memory during this unit, but maybe I can spend 20–30 minutes a day on that as a warmup for next unit.

I gave up on accurate perspective and just started free-handing everything. Flat perspective works, but makes everything look really far away.

Here’s the finished page. It’s ok, but there’s quite a disparity between how I imagined it and how it turned out. I tried several techniques for detail on the bottom panel. It might be too many to mix all together. I don’t think the parallel horizontal lines work very well. Since I have a lot of detail on some buildings, it looks strange to leave off detail on others. Although, if the detailed buildings are foreground and the dark ones are background, then the ones with horizontal lines could be middle ground.

I like reducing the arm into block shapes.
