Retrospective

I’ve finished all the leg anatomy assignments. Next week will be the foot, and then I’ll circle back to the lessons on hands that I skipped in the arms section. I wish I started studying anatomy earlier. It helps so much to know what I’m drawing rather than just trying to copy bumps on a figure. It’s also really helpful for inventing figures. My original art took a back seat towards the end of the week because I really want to finish all the anatomy assignments next week, but next unit I will return to 50% study, 50% original art.

Log

Another full week.

Drawings and Critiques

Monday, Jul. 05

Hamstring anatomy tracings.

Studying quads.

Working out the next comic panel.

Tuesday, Jul. 06

Hamstring anatomy tracings.

Original art.

Wednesday, Jul. 07

Calf anatomy studies.

The drawing on the right is my favorite of the week. It came out better than after I watched an instructor demo of this pose, which is quite rare. Usually the drawings improve after watching the demos.

Original art.

Thursday, Jul. 08

Studying calves.

Original art.

This panel is finished, unless I decide to add some more detail to the floor. I originally tried to put small cobblestones in the floor, but it looked awful, so I erased it and put large stones instead. The figure could use some work, but the basic idea is there.

Friday, Jul. 09

Calf studies.

Saturday, Jul. 10

Lower leg studies.

On the last page, my first attempt is on the left. I like it better than the second attempt, but I completely missed the curve of the tibia.

Sunday, Jul. 11

Lower leg studies.

My feet need work. Luckily that’s the next topic of study.

Studying foot anatomy.
